Some high school students in Fairfield are putting charity before themselves.
The students at Fairfield High Walter Fitzgerald campus received a $1,000 prize Thursday.
The school was recognized for its part in the Optimum Community "Charity Champions" fundraising program.
The money will be donated to the Daniel Trust Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping support orphaned children worldwide.
Optimum is the parent company of News 12 Connecticut.
