Two Fairfield Ludlowe students are walking a marathon this Memorial Day in hopes of sending some smiles overseas to military personnel during the pandemic.
The pandemic may have scrapped plans for local parades this Memorial Day, but sophomores Anna Keeley and Anna Burgess are walking their own route.
The best friends and training partners say they wanted a physical goal to replace the canceled track season, as well as honor their heroes on Memorial Day.
The marathon they are participating in is also raising money for the USO.
Both Keeley and Burgess set their $2,620 goal for the 26.2 miles of their route.
Marathoning for Memorial Day has already raised over $6,000.
