A small group of students, police officers and even visitors from Idaho spent the last three days at Fairfield University learning how to protect themselves from a rapist attack. The class, called Rape Aggression Defense, is not a traditional self-defense program. Instead, the class promotes advanced avoidance techniques.?The program was designed the way men usually attack women,? says instructor Pat Iappica. ?The best fight is the one you haven?t been in.?When the students complete the three-day class, they will be able to return to their communities and teach others. The instructors say when it comes to training trainers, there is no end to the number of people they can teach and attacks they can prevent.
