Several brave volunteers took an icy plunge at Penfield Beach Sunday to raise money for the homeless. The $2,200 raised by Fairfield's Polar Bear Club will be donated to the Operation Hope Shelter and food pantry in Fairfield. One grateful shelter resident came out to support the very cause that has supported him. He says Operation Hope not only gives him food and a warm place to stay, but it helped him find an affordable place to rent.Kevin Jennings organized the event and saw irony in the icy plunge. He says all of the volunteers have someplace warm to go home to and thanks to Operation Hope, the homeless do too.
