A lifelong resident of Fairfield was one of the 100 volunteers selected to decorate the White House for the holidays.
Charlotte Smith says one of the best parts of the experience was getting to learn about the other volunteers.
"There are people who are 85 years old that have been dreaming of this and for them – the White House has such visceral memories,” Smith said. "…It's hard not to be moved."
This year, there are 98 Christmas trees wrapped in more than 142,000 holiday lights.
First Lady Jill Biden said this year's theme for the White House is “Magic, Wonder and Joy.”
