Family, friends and fellow servicemen attended the funeral of Army First Lt. Thomas Brown Thursday morning.
The 26-year-old infantry soldier, of Shelton, will be buried with full military honors on Dec. 11 in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantry badge after his death.
Brown was killed in Iraq on Sept. 23 after his patrol came under small arms fire.
Brown is survived by his mother and twin brother, Timothy, who both said the soldier was dedicated to his troops and his family.
?I know my brother would want everyone to pray for the troops still over there because he cared for his troops,? Timothy says. ?He just loved what he was doing and loved his troops. You don't find guys like that everyday. He was my best friend.?
A service was held at Saint Jude Church in Monroe.
