A Norwalk family is temporarily displaced after a fire broke out at their home Sunday night. It happened on Kreiner Lane near the Merritt Parkway. Fire officials say firefighters were called to the home on a report of a garage fire. Officials say there was heavy smoke coming from the garage and basement of the split-level ranch when crews arrived. They say the family safely evacuated. Officials say firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the first floor and attic. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
