State officials toured some of the hardest hit areas Monday from last week's storm, including a family farm in Bethany.

Tuesday's tornado was classified as an EF1 tornado, packing winds of up to 110 mph.

The winds took down the barn and retail storefront of Clover Nook Farm. The winds were even strong enough to toss one of the greenhouses onto another.

Town and state officials, including Rep. Rosa Delauro, toured the farm as well as other devastated areas on Monday.

The storm damaged the farms crops, but the farmer says they hope to reopen Friday with produce for sale. Other farms have reached out to Clover Nook Farm, offering to lend equipment and raise money to help out.

"We have so much community support, and they all want to do things," says farmer Debbie Demander. "I mean, it's too dangerous to let them dig through the nails and metal but whatever they can do, they're wonderful."

Delauro says state officials have a May 30 deadline to assess the damage and file paperwork for FEMA.
