The family of a Bridgeport woman who was killed in a crash in New Jersey one week ago is speaking publicly for the first time about the tragedy.
Katya Chernykh, 27, was killed in a car accident in New Jersey on Sunday when she was on her way to go cliff diving as the passenger in the backseat of a Honda Accord.
Friends of Chernykh say they want to speak out about the legacy Chernykh left behind, because she had a caring heart that touched every person she met.
They say she was an aspiring fashion designer who studied at the New York Institute of Fashion, and she was the sole
provider for her parents who came to the United States from Ukraine.
Chernykh's friends set up a fund to help pay for Chernykh's funeral and to help her parents.
