The family of a Milford woman allegedly killed by her ex is planning to sue the city and police department.
A formal notice says Julie Minogue's death was "preventable."
The family also lists "failures" in the Milford Police Department leading up to her death.
Minogue was killed on Dec. 6 and her ex-boyfriend Ewen Dewitt is a suspect.
Police say they had record of Dewitt's violent behavior, and Minogue reportedly told them she feared for her life.
Included in the list of "failures" includes, "failure to protect Ms. Minogue from danger, which they were aware of."
