A 5-year-old girl from Greenwich is in the final stretch of her treatments for leukemia, and her family continues to raise money for the organizations that have helped her.
Willa Kosh has a whole new outlook on life after hearing she is coming to the end of her treatments for leukemia. "She's really just handling the chemo very well, and the doctors are really happy with how she's doing," said her mother, Tina Carpenteri.
Carpenteri is part-owner of Garden Catering, which just started a fundraising campaign this week to help three organizations that helped Willa along the way:
Circle of Care in Wilton, Live Free in Trumbull and Swim Across America Fairfield County.
"Our community has been amazing," says Carpenteri.
Until the end of this month, you can buy $5 coupon books at all Garden Catering locations that will support the three organizations. Last year, Garden Catering raised over $20,000 for the Golden Lights Foundation. Willa's family is amazed by her progress since she was first diagnosed.
"Obviously it was like a whirlwind and you're just kind of getting through it each day. The first eight months were really tough. The treatment is really intense," says Carpenteri.
Doctors say over 90% of kids with her type of cancer don't have a recurrence.
"It's been a long road, but the end is very much in sight," says Carpenteri.
The Garden Catering coupons will be redeemable next month.
