Father pleads for owners of dog accused of biting son to come forward
A couple whose dog is accused of biting a 5-year-old in the face in Fairfield has yet to come forward, according to officials.
Ryan Bartlett, of Fairfield, says his 5-year-old son needed 11 stitches on his lip following the incident Sunday outside their Warsaw Street home in the Warde area of town.
The boy has already gotten two rabies shots and is going for another treatment Friday.
He’ll have to undergo two other treatments, but if the owners of the dog come forward to confirm it was properly vaccinated then Bartlett’s son won’t have to continue getting shots.
Bartlett says he doesn't want his son to have to deal with more painful injections if he doesn't have to.

Animal Control wants the owners to know their dog will not be put down if they come forward.
Bartlett says the incident was just an unfortunate accident, and he's not trying to drag their names through the mud.
The owners of the dog are described as a couple in their 40s or 50s.
The dog accused of biting the child is described as a large black and brown-colored herding dog.
Another dog the couple was walking is a small tan-colored terrier.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfield Animal Control at (203) 254-4857.
