The FDNY's annual citywide open house took place on Saturday. 
More than 200 firehouses and EMS stations opened their doors, and many Bronx families attended.
At EMP Station 55 in Melrose, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs educated the public about fire safety. They also conducted demonstrations and discussed careers in the field. 
FDNY members also gave away more than 30,000 items, including fire safety coloring books and fire helmets for children.
