A disabled woman from Bridgeport says recent federal budget cuts have limited her access to transportation.
Tosha Newton, 33, has a severe form of cerebral palsy that requires her to use a wheelchair.
Newton says that getting to a bus stop several blocks from her home is slow and difficult, especially in bad weather. She says over the past two years, cuts in federal spending have limited her ability to get door-to-door transportation.
She says only a handicapped-accessible van will give her the kind of freedom that most single mothers would have to take care of their families.
Newton says she is trying to raise money to get a handicapped-accessible van. Newton and her family have started a fund to eliminate the physical barriers Newton is facing.
Newton says she is about $20,000 away from the van, but she is not giving up hope.
