Today was the first full day that people from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were in Connecticut to offer personal assistance.
FEMA opened a center today at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport.
Officials say that while they don't provide immediate assistance like getting your lights turned on or giving you food, they can help start the registration process to get money down the road.
Officials say more centers will be opening next week.
