An early morning fire heavily damaged a popular Greenwich restaurant.
Crews were called to Barcelona on West Putnam Avenue around 5:30 a.m.
Heavy flames were coming from the building and neighboring apartments had to be evacuated.
Fire officials say it appears to have started near the kitchen area, but they do not yet know the cause.
They say no one was inside the restaurant at the time.
The location will remain closed until repairs are done. Management says they will announce a date for the reopening soon.
