Fire heavily damages New Canaan home after garage blaze spreads to second floor

No one was injured in a three-alarm house fire at 48 Valley Road on Tuesday evening in New Canaan, according to fire officials.

They say the fire broke out in an attached garage, extended to the second floor, and companies stretched multiple hose lines to stop it from spreading across the attic to the rest of the structure.

Putting out the fire was complicated by the need to set up a relay pumping evolution to move water to the scene from a hydrant more than 2,500 feet away, officials say.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
