Fire officials: North Haven firefighter dies after working 38-hour shift

A North Haven firefighter has died after working a 38-hour shift at the station.
In a Facebook post, the North Haven Fire Department says Anthony Desimone, 50, suffered a medical emergency as he arrived home.
Officials say his family witnessed his collapse and called 911. The firefighter was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The department says Desimone was involved in several community organizations, including Knights of Columbus and North Haven Little League.
Details of funeral arrangements will be shared by the department once finalized.
Desimone was a 23-year veteran and is survived by his wife and two children.
