Commercial pilots are heaping praise on the pilot responsible for safely landing US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River Thursday. Both engines on the Airbus 320 cut out around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The pilot, Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III of Danville, Calif., reported a "double bird strike" to an air traffic controller in Westbury. A team of National Transportation Safety Board investigators are now trying to determine what caused the engines to cut out. According to investigators, it appears the jet was hit by a flock of geese. All 155 people on the plane survived the splash landing.Ryan Logan, a pilot for United Express, says it is not easy to land a plane without any engines working and that the job Sullenberger did was amazing. Logan says Sullenberger's performance made every pilot in the nation proud. For extended Flight 1549 crash coverage, go to Channel 612 on your iO digital cable box.
