A nonprofit group is remembering loved ones lost this Mother’s Day weekend at Calf Pasture Beach by planting flowers in their honor.
Alison Jacobson, the CEO of First Candle, says they planted 147 flowers to symbolize how many babies will die over the weekend from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS, and stillbirths.
First Candle holds planting events to spread awareness and bring families together that are going through similar experiences.
"For one year, I had my baby with me. And the next year, I was still a mom, but I didn't have my baby – and people don't know what to say, but we want to be acknowledged," said Jacobson.
