Food from Katrina relief efforts donated to Catholic Charities of Fairfield

Left over food from the Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts is being donated to one of Connecticut?s largest soup kitchens. Ten tons of food is being delivered to the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport Thursday.

Left over food from the Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts is being donated to one of Connecticut?s largest soup kitchens. Ten tons of food is being delivered to the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport Thursday. It will then be distributed to local charities and feed hundreds of families in southwestern Connecticut. The food was left over from a training vessel that housed rescue workers who were helping to rebuild New Orleans.
