Stamford police are reaching out to residents through food and showcasing their love of local eateries

As part of Food Truck Tuesdays, officers will visit a different food truck in the city and connect with the community. They say it's similar to their "Coffee with a Cop" program. The event is also a way to highlight the city's food scene.

A few days in advance, the department's social media pages will post where officers will visit and sample next.

On Tuesday, officers visited the Fed Truck on Long Ridge Road.

Lt. Jerry Junes says this type of outreach helps the department figure out how to navigate their daily patrol tactics and identify what resources they might need to provide.

"If there are areas that need concern - maybe there's speeding motorists, maybe there's kids down in the downtown area that are in the street peddling their bikes, four wheeling. So those ideas, the information we get from the people in the community doing events like this, allow us to assist the public in their concerns," says Junes.

Everyone is encouraged to come out, meet the officers and support the food trucks and the department.
