Food trucks in Stamford could soon face tough new restrictions on where they can set up.
Police say food trucks parked up and down busy streets, between bars and traffic, are an accident waiting to happen. Under the proposal, trucks would have to steer clear of driveways, crosswalks and intersections, in addition to being banned from setting up near restaurants still serving food.
Stamford Board of Representatives member Matt Quinones says their "No. 1 concern is pedestrian safety." He also says they are looking to bring in the food truck vendors and get their feedback on how the changes will affect their business.
Food truck workers will also be required to get criminal background checks.
Residents can weigh in on the regulations during public hearings over the next few months.
