A former Bridgeport police chief is taking up a new role that has him moving into the field of technology.
Joseph Gaudett is settling into his job as director of citywide communications in Bridgeport following 32 years as a police officer, six of which were as police chief.
His job, anchored in the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center on North Washington Avenue, will involve coordinating communications with every department in the city.
Other roles include helping with security cameras, computer networks and social media, which will have him making slightly less than he did as police chief, at a salary of $125,000.
The former chief's goals include consolidating operations in order to make communications in Bridgeport more effective.
Gaudett says that he will miss being with the police, but that change will lead to an exciting new chapter in his life.
