Friends help family of murder-suicide victims
Friends and neighbors have come together to establish a memorial fund for a grieving family following a Bridgeport murder-suicide.
Police say 48-year-old Ann Marie Rino killed her 8-year-old daughter, Gabriella Marin-Rino, before turning the gun on herself Monday. Maria Trombetta, who has known Rino's family for more than 20 years, says she wanted to do something to help after the tragic deaths. Trombetta decided to establish a memorial fund in Rinos' name to ease the financial burden on the family.
"I didn't understand it, and I think a lot of us are still feeling that," Trombetta says. "It's just hard to imagine that they're not going to be there anymore."
Trombetta does say she?s touched to see how the entire community is pulling together for the family by adding to the makeshift memorial set up outside the Rinos? home.
A wake will be held for Rino and her daughter Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Stratford. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Margaret's Shrine in Bridgeport.
