A funeral was held in Bridgeport on Tuesday morning for a 23-year-old woman killed in a car crash.
Police say around 10 p.m. on March 10, Naomi Wright was killed in a two-car crash at Seaview Avenue and Stratford Avenue.
"It hurts me dearly,” said Irell Pettway, the uncle of Wright. "It's hard, you know, it really hurts."
The health care worker was remembered by her family as being sweet and caring. They say she touched the lives of many as a certified nursing assistant.
"There's a lot of sad faces in there, there's a lot of people crying and mourning her loss,” said Tony Barr, a community activist.
Irell Pettway said the gathering on Tuesday was about more than just grief for the family – their focus now is getting answers about what specifically caused the crash.
“We really want to figure out what happened, how did this happen, what led up to this – because we don’t want this happening to another family member of anyone. This will affect us all for years to come,” said Irell Pettway.
Police say they're still investigating the cause.
The family believes it was more than just an accident and want justice.
"When you hit that car you took a life. You took somebody's life. You might as well have shot them because that's what you did, you took a life,” said Ann Pettway, the mother of Wright.
