Hundreds of people filled a synagogue in Bridgeport Wednesday to pay their respects to a Fairfield woman who died after being struck by a bicyclist in a park.
Jill Tarlov died Sunday at New York Presbyterian Hospital, three days after a bicyclist struck her in New York's Central Park. Tarlov, a former 1010 WINS radio station employee, suffered head trauma in the accident.
Mourners said Tarlov always focused on helping others. "For Thanksgiving, for instance, there were always two turkeys," said Ilene Goby, a member of Congregation B'nai Israel. "One for the family and one of the homeless shelter."
Tarlov's family plans to establish a charitable fund to carry on her work.
Tarlov leaves behind two children and a husband, Mike Wittman, who is senior vice president of finance at CBS.
