Funeral held for slain Ansonia mother as Amber Alert remains in effect for daughter
A funeral service was held Wednesday for an Ansonia mother found dead in her apartment last week, as the search for her missing child continues.
The funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Church in Bridgeport.
Mourners attended the wake of Christine Holloway on Tuesday night at the funeral home on Washington Avenue in Bridgeport to pay their respects.
Officials say Holloway was found with blunt force trauma to the head inside her apartment after not showing up for work.
She was the mother to missing 1-year-old Vanessa Morales and a day care instructor who grew up in Bridgeport.
A family friend told News 12 that Holloway and her family volunteered with the Knights of Columbus in Stratford
"She had that compassion with helping people," said Bryan Smith, of Stratford. "Hopefully they find out what happened."
A national Amber Alert remains in effect for Morales.
