Relatives held a funeral Friday for the 2-year-old Bridgeport girl who died July 2 after a swimming pool accident.

As News 12 Connecticut has reported, Skylar Perry fell into a backyard swimming pool at a family friend's home on May Street. 

Police say the toddler's mom pulled her out of the water and a young man present performed CPR, but she died two days later at Yale New Haven Hospital. Relatives say they initially had hope that Skylar would make a recovery, but she developed severe complications and was eventually taken off life support.

"You expect to die before your kids, so there are no words for that," says Carmen Robinson, the girl's aunt.
