Late blight is a fungal infection that?s claiming crops, like those at Holbrook Farm in Bethel. John Holbrook, the owner of Holbrook Farm, says late blight starts with a lesion on the leaves and can kill a crop within 24 hours. To help stop the spread of the fungus, Holbrook built a makeshift greenhouse to shield his remaining plants from the traveling spores of the fungus.Late blight affects not only tomato plants, but all nightshade plants like potatoes, eggplants and peppers.
