Joe Ganim will once again be mayor of Bridgeport.
Ganim won over six other candidates in the Park City.
The former mayor, who served seven years in prison on corruption charges, said, "Bridgeport is the city of second chances," and added that "95 percent" of the people he has encountered over the past several months have not held his past against him.
The top challenger was Mary Jane Foster, whose bid was backed by outgoing Mayor Bill Finch.
Finch lost a primary to Ganim earlier this year and then was denied a spot on the November ballot.
Finch had been mayor for the past eight years. Ganim spent 12 years in office before resigning the seat when he went to prison in 2003.
