Intervale Road in Darien closed after crews caused a water main break when they were repairing a gas leak.
Police say a private construction crew punctured a gas main line yesterday afternoon.
Officers evacuated the area for a short time until crews could shut off gas service to the area.
Crews then ruptured a water main break during repairs overnight.
