A semi-professional soccer team kicked off its opening game in Bridgeport Saturday night.
Generation Z Soccer played at Kennedy Stadium at Central High School.
Organizers said it is all part of an effort to give some of the most talented young soccer players in the region a chance to move up the ladder.
"What we're looking for tonight is for the community to come and cheer the boys on," said the team's Juan Constante.
The players took on a team from Massachusetts.
Organizers said Generation Z Soccer has positively impacted Bridgeport for a decade.
