The Orange community is mourning the loss of a local business owner and coach who died Saturday of an apparent heart attack.
The family of Trevor Van Hise says his sudden passing was the last thing they ever would have expected. Denise D'Onofrio, their neighbor, started a GoFundMe for them when she learned Trevor didn't have life insurance.
The campaign raised nearly $30,000 in just a few days.
The Van Hises own the flooring business Carpet & Tile By The Mile on the Post Road in Milford. D'Onofrio says Trevor was always the muscle of the organization.
He coached basketball, football and baseball for the Amity Regional School District with his sons and his daughter, Jenna.
Trevor's son, James, says his father will be remembered for his work ethic and his endless positivity.
His wife, Denise, says it hasn't been a surprise to find out Trevor had friends everywhere.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home in Milford.
