Gov. Ned Lamont has approved sending 100 Connecticut National Guardsmen to Washington, D.C. to help with security for President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.
Cpt. David Pytlik says the troops duties will range from traffic control to finding potential bombs.
He says that their goal is to make sure that political institutions aren't challenged like they were during last week's riots on the U.S. Capitol.
"Our guardsmen that go down there will never forget," Pytlik says.
Connecticut is one of 43 states expected to provide National Guard support for the inauguration.
