Gov. Ned Lamont announced new Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster recovery centers are now open in Southbury and Wilton.

Both were made possible because of federal funding.

The Wilton location will help homeowners and businesses apply for federal disaster aid due to August's devastating floods.

Over 1,000 applications have been filed so far.

Timonthy Harris, the manager of the Wilton Center, says no claim is too small.

"We recommend coming in, at least putting in a claim, put in an application for assistance...Come to us and we'll take the claim right here in person...Don't feel like your damage is not important. We want to make sure that you're adequately taken care of," Harris said.

Applicants need to provide the address of any damaged property and proof of insurance.
