Gov. Ned Lamont
named former U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly to lead an independent review of the Connecticut State Police Department following a
recent audit that found troopers falsified data on traffic stops reported to the racial profiling board.
Lamont says the review will look for possible misconduct by state troopers and determine why there were so many errors in the state police traffic records.
The recent audit revealed that 26,000 falsified traffic tickets were written as a potential way to skew racial profiling.
The independent review board will also make suggestions to the governor about what reforms should be implemented.
"A former U.S. attorney knows her way around, strong in terms of independence, leaves no stone unturned," said Lamont.
