Gov. Ned Lamont signed a sweeping gun control bill that will expand Connecticut's assault weapons ban.
"It's very important to keep our communities safe. Getting those illegal guns off the streets. Getting those repeat gun offenders off the street," Lamont said.
The bill also bans open carry.
A gun rights group, represented by attorney Norm Pattis, plans to challenge the new law in court.
