Gov. Ned Lamont held a ceremony in Hartford Monday as he signed a historic state budget bill.
The two-year $51 billion budget, includes the largest income tax cut in state history and had bi-partisan support.
It boosts funding for public schools in hopes of addressing student's educational setbacks during the pandemic.
"This is a budget about opportunity, five months ago I said we are moving from lifelines to ladders, and these are ladders of opportunities, and I like to think that's the heart and soul of what this budget is about," Lamont said.
The new budget won't take effect until next year.
Lamont also signed a new law sharply limiting police from using "deceptive" interrogation tactics on minors.
