Gov. Ned Lamont was joined by Sen. Richard Blumenthal and other local officials to unveil a new mobile testing facility in Hartford, Thursday.
The newest Trinity Health of New England and Charter Oak Health Center site allows residents to walk up and get a coronavirus test without a doctor's note.
The site is located at Parker Memorial Community Center at 2621 Main St. in Hartford.
Officials at the press briefing say Hartford was hit hard by the virus, and lead the state in most nursing home fatalities, behind Stamford.
"We have some of the lowest infection rates, not only in the states, but in the region," Lamont touted.
The governor says tests and tracing must be strong ahead of the second phase of reopening, which is slated for June 20.
The mobile program will provide free COVID-19 testing in 19 different locations in the coming weeks, including in Hartford, East Hartford, Bloomfield, and Windsor.
