Gov. Dannel Malloy delivered his State of the State address today at the beginning of the new legislative session.
The governor said he wants major education reform to be a top priority. Other issues he says that could be addressed include new rules for utilities and changes to the liquor laws.
He also presented changes to the second year of the $40 billion budget passed last year in order to address a recently developed deficit.
Malloy does not expect any major spending cuts and says he does not expect any new tax increases this year either.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say they agree with the governor's education proposals, but some are split on how to fund the proposed increases in education funding.
