Gov. Dannel Malloy visited Norwalk to discuss one of his latest transportation initiatives.
Mayor Harry Rilling and Department of Transportation officials joined the governor as he laid out parts of his long-term transportation proposals, a multibillion-dollar investment over the next 30 years.
Malloy said 40 years of underfunding transportation has made it difficult for Connecticut to keep some businesses and jobs.
Connecticut DOT Commissioner James Redeker said the plan begins with expanding bus service by 40 percent in Norwalk and Stamford.
"It is investments like Bus Rapid Transit that are economic engines for our state and critical transportation improvements that will speed people with reliable transit services," Redeker said.
