The $570 million in cuts that Gov. Dannel Malloy proposed in Wednesday's State of the State address will directly affect state workers.
The governor says his budget will require the reduction of state employees by more than 1,000 through attrition and other means.
Among the state jobs that are expected to be hit the hardest are social services.
The president of the Connecticut AFL-CIO says union representatives will be sitting down with the Gov. Malloy to talk about alternatives in the coming weeks.
