Gov. Malloy signed a bill Monday that will keep Sikorsky Aircraft's worldwide headquarters in Stratford for at least another 16 years.
The deal, which was negotiated by the governor's office and approved by the Legislature, gives Sikorsky a package of $220 million in grants and tax cuts.
In exchange, Sikorsky has pledged to produce a new line of helicopters in the state and expand its business in the area, adding about 8,000 new jobs among other statewide benefits.
The signing ceremony took place after a tour of the advanced manufacturing center at Housatonic Community College.
HCC officials say that program has a 100 percent job placement rate for graduates, who then go on to work for manufacturers like Sikorsky.
