Greenwich officials are getting the word out on a new initiative to protect the environment.
The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce sponsored a seminar on the ban on most single use shopping bags.
The ban goes into effect at the end of the summer, and applies to the traditional shopping bags found in most grocery stores.
Despite the change, organizers of the seminar predict the ban won't be as dramatic as some people fear.
The new plastic bag ordinance goes into effect Sept. 12.
