Greenwich school officials say they are changing the dismissal time for next year.

Starting in September, students will be dismissed 20 minutes earlier at 2:55 p.m.

Last week, the Board of Education decided to eliminate a flex block that was put into place to allow students an opportunity to meet with teachers and hold club activities.

Officials say many students did not use the flex time. They say students will still be able to get assistance from teachers after school.

Officials say the new schedule will also add two minutes to each period during the day and say that extra class time will add real benefits over the course of the year.

The high school start time is not impacted by this change.
