Residents enjoyed the grand opening of the newly renovated Byram Shubert Library in Greenwich Saturday.
The library underwent more than two years of construction to complete a $5 million transformation. Library regulars, like Miguel Bonvenuto, say they have waited years for a spacious, modern library and are excited about the new interactive features.
The renovated library offers more choices of books, newly released DVDs and albums, as well as an expanded reading space. There are also more computers and special spaces for adults and children to read together. Librarians say the grand opening is perfectly timed, because more people are utilizing the library to save money.
?In this financial crisis, people can't afford to go to book stores,? the librarian says. ?People are losing their jobs.?
