Greenwich police: Bronx scammer accused of demanding money from elderly woman

Greenwich police say a scammer from the Bronx is facing charges, accused of showing up at a home in person twice to demand money from an elderly resident.
Police say a woman in the Riverside neighborhood got a call from someone claiming to be her grandson, demanding nearly $10,000.
They say 37-year-old Armando Aquino-Jiminez turned up as a "courier" to collect the money. When he returned this week for more cash - neighbors sensed trouble, blocked the suspect's car in and called police.
Police say usually scammers don't work so close to home and that solving these cases often involves working with other departments.
Aquino-Jiminez faces larceny and interfering charges and has been released on $250 bond.
