A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday night at Ellsworth Park in Bridgeport for its two new Little League fields.

The Black Rock Little League team will play on them.

The fields will replace the existing one and have new drainage systems, new fencing and foul poles.

"Anytime it rains, our fields go offline anywhere from one to four days. They really don't drain well or they hadn't. Hopefully they will going forward. Then that leads to practices being canceled, games being canceled, things really having to be shuffled around," says Black Rock Little League president Brian Kabel.

Kabel tells News 12 the entire project is a part of effort to ensure all facilities used by children are up to date and safe for use.
