Members of a Stratford foundation are trying to keep drunken drivers off the roads this weekend by offering free Uber rides.

Wayne's Walk is offering the rides from 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Stratford. The organization was created by friends of Wayne Lecardo, who police say was killed by a teenage drunken driver in 2007.

The group partnered with Uber to make any ride up to $10 free over the Memorial Day weekend.

Ania Catalano, co-owner of Joey C's Boathouse and supporter of Wayne's Walk, says restaurant owners and employees must do their part and look out for impaired patrons before they attempt to drive this weekend.

Stratford police also say they will be extra vigilant this weekend for telling signs of drunken drivers such as erratic driving in order to avoid hazards to the general public.
